The visionary game developer, renowned for co-creating the globally famous franchise Call of Duty, has passed away in a vehicle crash in Los Angeles, California he was 55 years old.

The tragic news was announced by Electronic Arts, the parent company of Respawn Entertainment, the development studio which he helped establish.

The influential industry figure died after his automobile collided and caught fire on a highway in the Los Angeles area on Sunday morning, US media outlets report.

"This represents an unimaginable loss, and we stand with Vince's loved ones, his family, and the countless individuals inspired by his legacy," an official with Electronic Arts commented.
