Around 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.
Automobiles, walls and postboxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a statement.
Officers report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued liquid.
The liquid had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.
Officers then found multiple other marked automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Police report initial examinations suggest the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; investigators are currently not informed of any physical harm in relation with the occurrence," they stated.
City officials said they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have requested to the community for tips.
A high-ranking representative stated the attack left him without words and required to be resolved promptly.
"This act hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on online, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
