This outlines the narrative, in essence, of the master of horror’s iconic book It (arguably his finest; no arguments). It parallels of King’s son Joseph Hillstrom King’s new massive horror novel, in which six friends call forth the age-old, deeply sinister beast the Sorrowful Monarch from the Endless Night to assist them in vanquishing some baddies. As one might expect, their otherworldly invocation goes awry.

Celebrating a Authorial Heritage

Joe Hill began his writing journey making great efforts to distance himself from his famous father, adopting the nom de plume he still uses today and eschewing in-person meetings with his agent (he exhibits a strong similarity to his dad). But in this latest novel, he fully acknowledges it. There are lines that intentionally mirror some of King’s most famous (the famous Dark Tower introduction); a incident that recalls a recurring theme in King’s works (a battle of wits). In this epic story, Joe Hill takes pleasure in his family connection, and readers share in the joy.

My favorite genre switch was to a quest story, within the subterranean depths under the English county, a part sprinkled with the fantasy maestro that was gloriously terrifying.
