Iranian Forces State Strike on American Facility in Bahrain, During Regional Counterattacks.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing assault against it by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area in the area of the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any destruction is not yet known and the United States has not commented.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - said they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck areas associated with the the regime, with US President Donald Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces said it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with notable success and destroyed a series of missiles," it added.
It said debris landed in a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some material damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
