Emergency crews were working to restore power throughout the damaged zones, with dozens of response units deployed to handle the numerous electricity disruptions.

Southern State's Weather Woes

At the same time, around 1,000 residents in the southern state also experienced power outages after Melbourne experienced its wettest day in 18 months.

Rescue organizations handled nearly 600 requests for assistance across the state, mainly for building damage but also for fallen timber and inundation.

Most Impacted Areas

  • Werribee - saw considerable storm damage
  • Hoppers Crossing suburb - numerous assistance requests
  • Wyndham region - 179 emergency requests

During the peak on yesterday, in excess of twenty-eight thousand electricity consumers in the state were without power.

Climate Outlook

Humid circumstances were expected to linger along large portions of eastern Queensland this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to draw in moisture against the coast.

The following day was predicted as the heaviest precipitation period, with persistent storm activity predicted across multiple regions of both areas.

Medical Alert

Health officials alerted that there was an increased chance of weather-related respiratory issues across the northern rural areas, specifically given the ongoing climate situation.

This caution comes after past events where similar conditions led to major medical consequences in the region.
