Brian Eno Calls On Backing to Send Together for Palestine Track to UK Christmas No 1.
A fundraising initiative is aiming to propel a Palestinian lullaby to the peak of the festive singles chart. The project seeks to send support to communities in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian artistic heritage.
A Possibility for Unity and an "Unlikely Coup"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a moment to support Palestinians this festive season. He noted the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“It would be incredible if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I won't be completely let down if it fails to, Christmas singles are a thing unto themselves.”
Resilient Spirit of Self-Determination
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the adaptation of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's resilient spirit.
“It occupies a very special place for a lot of people,” Barghouti explained. “It’s basically saying that I would prefer a dignified death than exist without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we seek to lead a respectful existence that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Production History and Contributing Musicians
The song was recorded in the wake of a solidarity show held in the autumn. Originally intended to be done as a live recording, the performance was omitted from the lengthy event due to scheduling overruns.
The notable list of performers appearing on Lullaby encompasses a range of prominent voices from the scene. All participated in the September show, which reportedly raised a considerable total for humanitarian aid.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was brought to life by a group of talented individuals. The song blends a fusion of the heritage language with freshly written English words.
The team running the campaign have stated that their goal is to raise as much as possible for a specific fund. These resources will be allocated to Palestinian causes through an non-profit partner.
“There is no a fixed goal,” a figure commented. “We aim for as much as possible. Of course, the higher the total, the greater the impact. All proceeds are directed out to the people of Gaza.”
The reality in the area was described as its extreme devastation, with a huge proportion of infrastructure described as levelled or seriously harmed.
“In that context, a few million is unlikely to make that much difference. But I think what truly matters is first of all making this cause better known and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.”
The single 'Lullaby' is scheduled for release this Friday. Additionally, a video of the charity concert will be made available for streaming on a major video platform from later in the month.
