Arne Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Has Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Loss

Arne Slot admitted that it was understandable for questions to be asked about his position after another heavy loss against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their ninth defeat in 12 matches, marking the club's worst streak since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I've received a lot of backing from above,” Slot commented.

“It would be nice to turn it around and get a victory obviously but when you're in a managerial role and not doing well then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I am OK with my position. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Talks with Club Management

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot said:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me constantly of the day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard discussions I sense the belief. However I've not talked to them after this match yet so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Response

The manager highlighted known shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, specifically missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his view of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder said.

“It is unacceptable. I don't need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I play for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club for years.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a spell like this with outcomes this poor.”

Jones finished, “However we still have that badge on our shirts. And as long as that badge is gone, we will always fight.”

“Our aim is to help the side return to the top, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the best team in the world.”

“But right now, things are bad and it must improve.”
